Eating Walnuts can help fight breast cancer

A new study published recently in Nutrition Research suggests that eating walnuts can help suppress cancer growth and prevent metastasis in breast cancer patients.

The study finds that walnut consumption is associated with changes in expression of 456 genes and the changes indicate that walnuts can suppress cancer cell proliferation, promote apoptosis of cancer cells (killing cancer cells) and inhibit migration of cancer cells.

Previous studies demonstrated that consumption of walnuts slows breast cancer growth and/or reduce the risk of mammary cancer in mice.
