07/19/2020 (Sunday) — (jkzx.com) — Eating meat has been associated with increased risk of cancer in many prior studies. A new study published in the journal International Journal of Cancer confirmed that eating meat can increase risk of gastric cancer.

This finding was derived from an meta-analysis of data from 22 studies including 11,443 cases and 28,029 controls.

The study found those who ate the highest amount of red meat were 24% increased risk of gastric cancer, than those who ate the lowest. High intakes of processed meat and total meat were also correlated with 23% and 30% elevated risk of gastric cancer, respectively, compared to low intakes.

The highest risk of gastric cancer was found in those who ate the highest amount of processed and red meat. Those who ate 150 grams of red meat per day were 85% more likely to develop gastric cancer.
