The study finds that high intake of saturated fatty acids, and low intake of polyunsaturated fatty acids are linked to obesity and abdominal obesity risk.  But they do not have an impact on diabetes type 2.

The study did not survey the link between trans fat and risk of obesity.  Trans fat is linked to higher risk of diabetes.  Previous studies linked intake of trans fat and saturated fat to elevated risk of diabetes.

There is a lot to consider when it comes to dietary fatty acids.  It is not as simple as saturated fatty acids and polyunsaturated fat.  Think carefully and do not take this message mechanically.
